Holistic Mind and Life Coaching

DBT and Occupational Therapist in Northamptonshire

My name is Rachel, and I am a qualified and HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist (OT) and accredited Dialectical Behavioural Therapist (DBT) with over fifteen years of experience. I have worked in a range of clinical settings, from secure inpatient units to community-based NHS services and private practice, supporting both adolescents (teenagers) and adults facing significant emotional and behavioural challenges. I work with private clients on an in-person, face to face basis or virtually, using online consultation sessions.

Areas of Expertise

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Adolescent Mental Health Skills
  • Family and Life Coaching
  • Working with Anxiety & Depression
  • Emotional Dysregulation
  • Teaching Skills and Goal Setting

I specialise in blending the mind and body therapies of DBT and OT to help individuals overcome complex life issues including difficulties in emotional regulation, impulsive behaviours, and chaotic relationships. When combined effectively, the strengths of DBT and OT are powerful tools to address anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideation, as well as eating disorders and other mental health concerns.

Passionate about supporting families, I am trained in Family Connections; a DBT-based intervention that helps families to enhance their coping skills and relationships. By working together, we identify triggers, reduce distressing behaviours, and foster healthier family dynamics.

DBT Therapist Long Buckby Wellbeing Northamptonshire

About Me

My career began with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy in 2006. After working for ten years in a medium secure adolescent unit, I pursued specialist training in sensory and attachment-focused interventions, helping emotionally sensitive individuals regulate their sensory arousal and develop healthier coping strategies. This expertise enhances my clients’ ability to manage stress and avoid operating in persistent fear mode when reminded of past trauma.

I became a DBT therapist over a decade ago, completing a post-graduate diploma in DBT and gaining accreditation with the Society for DBT in the UK and Ireland. I’ve since provided both individual and group DBT for adolescents and adults, working extensively with individuals diagnosed with “emotionally unstable personality disorder,” Complex PTSD, and those affected by chronic depression, anxiety, and over-control conditions like anorexia and OCD.
